Oh that poor lightning bug. God, I’m starting to feel bad for all those things I killed as a child. Jars and jars of them…
Mark, I really like the expression you drew on the bird in the third panel. 😀
The fact of the matter is that lightning bugs draw attention to themselves, they just can’t help it! They don’t scurry around in the grass or under rocks, they are very bold, and in your face. Personally, I admire them a lot because of their amazing abilities, they’re like bug superheroes. I felt that expression in the third panel as much as I drew it, Bill. Glad you liked it!
I just love this Mark, you are really pushing the forms, just great stuff. There is a lot to learn by looking at your construction. This so reminiscent of ROCKY AND Bullwinkle type animation. Just great fun.
Jack, from what I’m seeing over at Scaredemy, that’s a mighty fine comment to toss my way! Your stuff is the next best thing to a moving cartoon going! Thanks so much!
You know what I’m talking about when I say there’s a lot of emoting in this cartoon biz. One look at what you’re doing with Bigfoot says it all. We gotta feel what we’re doing before we can translate it into lines. I honestly got a little lump in my throat when I inked panel three. It could have been from that Little Debbie snack cake, though…
I try to feel the expressions as I draw them, I wonder what I must look like sitting at my table sometimes…. I know you feel those expressions when you create, too, because all your characters are so expressive and alive!
On a wing (singular) and a prayer!
It’s nice to see ZB putting aside his base instincts for a moment and sharing some love. Surprised even me!
I can just hear “I believe I can fly” playing in the background! 🙂
He’s touching the sky about right now, too!
Everyone needs a little help now and then.
Amen, Julian!
A tribute to the cooperative nature of birds and their natural food supply, bugs.
Would this fly on the Nat Geo channel?

I love the firefly’s little astronaut helmet. Cute
That was a suggestion by Joseph (Wacky Monkeys) that I thought had to be drawn!
You have two wings. One to help yourself, the other to help a friend! This lights up my day, Mark! :O)
Even if we don’t have wings, but we can lift someone else up every now and again. Thanks for the nice words, Joseph!
A friend indeed.
It’s nice to have a friend who won’t eat you.
I need a friend like that! The airlines are getting too pricey for me! 🙂
I wouldn’t expect any peanuts on that flight, though.
I am really digging the run of non-verbal strips lately. Great work
I’m a lazy letterer, I guess, lol. Thanks so much, feels good to know that you like ’em!

Seriiously, Mark. Panel 2 almost made me cry. Panel 4 finished the job. -v

A leader who gets in there and helps you along is the best kind!
Sometimes we can all use a little wind beneath our wings…
Space calls us all!
The siren call of the stars!
Maybe the poor bug can find a future directing these firefly ballets!
I think a glowworm version of Swan Lake would be amazing…!
You give your characters some of the most awesome expressions, Mark. You’re truly a talent.

No one left behind!! Great leader!
An even greater leader won’t accidentally squash his auxiliaries!
Is the whistle in the key of F?
I’m tone deaf, I can’t be sure.
How FREAKIN adorable is THIS?!? [swoom]
Think of the happiest things
It’s the same as having wings
You can fly, you can fly, you can fly…
