I drew that strip for the sole purpose of that last panel, Jenn. When I originally drew the strip, I left it at “my art is distraction.” When I topped it with the “Old Master” punchline, I knew I was gonna have to try to make it look like an old painting. I’m glad you liked it, I think experimenting makes it more fun.
Love how you worked in the last panel, very cool, Mark!
Never hurts to throw in a little Rembrandt! Thanks, Tim!
HAH! I can TOTALLY relate. LOVE the artistic richness of that last panel! [grin]
I think most of us artists can definitely relate to distraction as an art form. Thanks for the compliment, Jynksie!
My distraction is art.
That would be a nice way to make a living!
I love how he has a big ‘ol ‘D’ sewn onto his shirt. Is that ‘D’ for distraction?
That “D” is for Duncan (his name), but I guess it works for Distraction, too!
Love the rendering of the final panel! 🙂
Thanks George! Took some time, but I wanted to see if I could get an old canvas look.
Art is a fine distraction and distraction is a fine art.
Very well said, Brandon. It works absolutely both ways!
If I had a chalkboard easel like that, I’d be more productive.
I love those marker boards, the way the marker just slides on it makes you want to draw something. Little good that nifty easel does Duncan, though.
He doesn’t seem to like being an old master
He doesn’t like being called on the carpet. I don’t think he’s got to worry about being an old master, he has to paint first!
My art is my nemesis.
Nice effect on the last panel.
So, Art….we meet again!
Staring at a blank piece of paper can be killing.
Staring at a blank piece of paper doesnt help the process.
Sometimes my Muse takes an extended vacation, probably a sunny cruise in the Caribbean.
Good looking strip …have to agree with everyone that last panel does look pretty good.
I’m glad you appreciate it, Eric. Took some figuring out.
Yeah that last panel is really cool.
I was referencing a Rembrandt self portrait. I’m happy you like it, Denny!
I’m with Danny Mark, love the style you used on the last panel. Really well done. Glad art isn’t my distraction I’d never get any comics done.
I think “art is dedication” sounds a lot better! Thanks for the kind remarks, Tony!
Have to agree that “art is dedication”! :`)
Yea, sometimes we have to do it even when we don’t want to!
Wow! Two easels and he doesn’t use either of them! (Then again I have three and I’m too busy making comics to use mine!)
I agree with everyone about the “old master” effect you added to that final panel. Very cool, Mark!
Oh, yeah, and pretty funny cartoon, too. lol
I’m guilty of it too. So many projects, so little drive… I’m happy you appreciated that last panel. It’s fun to experiment.
Whoa, that last panel is awesome. Love how experimental you are, Mark!
