Step Away From the Monitor!
A while back my host was having server issues and I wasn’t able to access this website for a few hours early one morning. Oh the humanity. The way Twitter was burning with disgruntled customers bemoaning their lot, things like client disconnect, lost customers, precious missed opportunities. You would have thought that the fifth horse of the Apocalypse had descended upon the Internet! Lighten up, people! Get outside, go for a walk. Take a deep breath, your connection will return. At least until the next time your host has a meltdown…
I had the same prooblem this morning. 🙂
It can be sooo frustrating, but all we can do is wait until it comes back online. Unfortunately, as a modern society our lack of patience knows no bounds!
Duncan needs immediate assistance before insanity sets in!
Hopefully his connection DTs won’t last too long!
I dont mind it when the internet is inaccessible. I was alive when the internet had yet to be invented by Al Gore! *smirk* I used to swing on a rubber tire attached to a tree.
You had a life before the internet, and you’ll have one after too! Life’s simplest pleasures don’t have to be plugged in to a power source.
Sadly I am way too big now (height not fat) to fit in the tire these days
Well gettin’ outside is at least something.
Oh my, 5 minutes with no access to your site. I’m not sure I could survive that, I’m sure it would be during those 5 minutes that my site would have gone viral and I’d missed all that traffic. 😉
I do feel like Duncan sometimes, as I’m often finding myself checking my site. Mostly just the stats though, at least I know fairly quickly when I’m having issues.
Yep, that is surely what would happen. Your moment your site traffic would spike off the scale is the exact moment it would go down. The morning Dreamhost was down, people were so Jonesin’ for their internet fix that it was almost ludicrous, lol.
I had the same exact problem!!! Couldn’t upload my comic until today (a day later than my usual publishing day). But man… I just then realized how addicted I am to my website and blog 😉
I’m glad it didn’t last, your latest strip is a poot, I mean a hoot!
If we ever did suffer a major internet disruption that lasted for months–like they say could happen with a major solar flare–I’m not sure we would be able to survive it.
The world as we know it would shut down and we’d have to – gasp – get out into the real world! Scary, but true!
Duncan should have replied with a loud resounding NO!!!
Internet down for 5 minutes??? That’s worse than the fifth horse of the Apocalypse
This is one instant where I don’t think being a NO! master will help. We are at the mercy of the all-mighty tech guys at our provider…ugh.
