Top Ten Zombie Boy Comics of the Decade
Ok, I’m gonna admit, choosing one strip each year for the ten years I’ve been creating Zombie Boy Comics has been a challenge. It’s not that I think that each comic strip is a gem, it’s just that I found it hard to pick just one that would be a “Top Ten.” When you figure in all the things that were happening in my real life at the time I made some of these, and where my imaginination was taking me at the time, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t replicate the alchemy now if I tried. When Pooj was alive, he brought a life to Gorr that I couldn’t have created on my own, and now, years later, his spirit lives on in the many puppy strips I’ve been making these last few years.
Anyway, I present to you ten strips from 2010 to 2020, a decade’s worth of cartoonyness for your viewing pleasure. I hope you have as much fun reading them as I had creating them!
Do you have a favorite ZB strip? If so, be sure to leave a comment and let me know which one you like and I’ll post those, too!
Picking favourites is very difficult, in your own comics, and in the work of others. I think what most stands out is not any one particular strip you did, but the characters and world you created and the overall quality.
Thank you, Peter. I’ve always said I make the strip for myself first and if other people like them, it’s gravy! There’s a bit of nostalgia, memory, emotion, and personal preference involved in picking a favorite, and it was really hard to choose!
A fabulous slide show of 10 years of comics, Mark! It’s great to see how your style changes over the 10 years; to me it appears that how you draw your characters changes, but your overall style does not, if that makes sense. And it’s great! Looking forward to another 10 years! Cheers!
An excellent collection of your work! I have sat and watched it cycle through at least 5 times. As for my favorite, i don’t think that I can narrow it down to just one. My favorites (plural) were the dinosaur adventures and the bugs and butterfly cartoons. Hope to see Zombie Boy, Gorr, the dinosaurs and all the bugs and butterflies for at least another 10 years!
It’s been a fun decade. Here’s to the next ten!
Thank you so much, Jack! You’re about around there yourself, aren’t you?
Some great strips Mark. I especially love the one of Gorr playing Tug O’ War with the huge devil creature
That one was fun to draw! It was difficult to pick ten strips out of all of the ones I’ve created in ten years, it was basically hit or miss.
