True Gorr – The Mutt Behind the Monster
on December 2, 2010
I’d like to introduce you to the inspiration behind Zombie Boy’s best friend, Gorr. Meet my eight-year old pug, Pooj, or as I affectionately call Sir Stinkalot, a huffing, snuffing, snorting bundle of unabashed unconditional love. He’s been with me since he was eight weeks old, and I can’t imagine my life without him.
So what if walking more than a block and a half leaves him gasping like a fish out of water, so what if he gets more drinking water on the floor and on his chin than in his mouth, so what if he snores louder than a middle-aged, 350 lb. truck driver… I feel blessed to share my life with this fuzzy, smelly creature because the pay-off is astronomical.
POOJ!!!!! If Bulldog Malone ever had a sidekick, it would be Pooj.
That’s a great thought, pal. Though I suspect Bulldog would get tired of Pooj crossing the police line and peeing on all the evidence.
Love his expression in this photo. He’s so cute.
Dogs are such wonderful pets. They don’t care if we’re rich or poor; funny or boring; smart or stupid; they just love us for who we are.
Thanks, Becky, I’m a big fan of Pooj. I’ve heard it said that dogs are the only creature in the Universe who love us more than they love themselves. That’s so true! I can tell you are an animal lover, do you have pets?
I can believe that dogs do love us more than themselves.
I have a dog and a cat. The dog is a Labrador crossed with a Staffie and the cat is some sort of evil genius.
Most cats I’ve met are, lol. Thanks for sharing about your pup. Have you put either of them in any of your strips? Just wondering.
The pets are a great source of inspiration. The cat features in this post

Sorry for the huge links but thought it would save you having to trawl through the whole site if you fancied looking 🙂
Went to those links and had a good laugh. Very inventive and observant stuff! I always say the funniest jokes write themeselves and pets are an endless source of inspiration. I guess I don’t have to tell you that, though, do I?
He’s so cute. I had to check him out after listening to your podcast on Coast to Coast.
I’m a bit partial to him too, Daniel! Appreciate your interest, it’s kind of fun to know that Gorr is based on an actual dog!
