The Ice Bucket Challenge
Frank Jordan (Company Man Comic) created a special Ice Bucket Challenge comic strip (you can see it here), and then challenged David Hurley (Don’t Pick the Flowers) to participate. Accepting his challenge, David created a wonderful comic strip featuring his character, Suzanne, dousing herself with a bucket of ice cold water. You can see David’s strip here. David also created a hilarious video showing him getting the Ice Bucket treatment which he posted on Facebook. The object is to accept the Challenge and then challenge someone else to do the same, and that’s where I come in. David challenged me, and so I put together this special piece.
The Ice Bucket Challenge (#icebucketchallenge) is a creative way to spread ALS awareness via social media and in communities nationwide. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. With only about half of the general public knowledgeable about ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, the Ice Bucket Challenge is making a profound difference.
Here is my Ice Bucket Challenge art. I hope you will all consider donating or contributing to this very worthy cause! For more info about ALS and the Ice Bucket Challenge click here.

That’s a lot of water and ice for such a little bug! Turned out great Mark!
I wouldn’t want to be bug right now! Say, I think that’s the same face YOU made in your Ice Bucket Challenge video! Lol, you’re a great guy for participating and for getting other creators involved!
Haha! Great work, Mark! But I was expecting to see YOU get the ice bucket in real life!
Thanks, Joseph! I’m happy to report that the Ice Bucket Challenge also encourages people to spread the word however they can, and what better way to do that than with comics?
I would have liked to see Zombie boy drench Mark haha
That thought did cross my mind, Bearman. Then I started thinking about something else real quick, lol.
How did you find ice cubes small enough to fit in a thimble! 😉 Great work, Mark!
It wasn’t as thimble as it looks, Tim! Thanks, pal!
The look on the bugs face is heart wrenching.
It’s okay little buddy, it’s for a good cause – or possibly an evil whim – but mostly a good cause.
Now he’s a member of the Polar Bug Club!
Better to dump it on someone else than yourself
I took the Ice Bucket Challenge by proxy. That’s cold, I know…
