I was trying to save myself from having to draw backgrounds, lol. No, really I’ve always been fascinated with shadows as characters. I used this idea a long time ago in one of my comic book stories, where ZB’s shadow is out to destroy him. I’ve softened it up a bit, but the jist is the same. I’m glad you enjoy it, Jenn!

This one’s great! 🙂
Thanks Leroy! Still want to hear about your work with Franquin!
I love the classic Looney Tunes vibe with this one.
I was going for an animated look, glad you liked it, Jack!
Heehee this reminds me of the comics that Sergio Aragones used to do with shadows, for Mad Magazine. Do you know those by any chance?
Yeah, I love Sergio Aragones’ Shadow Knows cartoons! Can’t get much better than Sergio!
My shadow just tries to make me look fatter than I am! [whistles]
I think it’s a shadow conspiracy, because mine does that too!
Me and my shadow….walking along.
Walking along, barely able to withstand each other…
It always happens when you turn your back…
Sneaky shadow, isn’t it!
Everyone together now! “Just me…and my shadow….toniiiight!”
If your shadow is MIA, there might be a problem…
Watch an old horror movie called “Vampyr”…you’ll never trust your shadow on its own again.
…or watch Peter Pan.
Shadows are naturally shady characters.
Well, it’s good that ZB isn’t afraid of his own shadow and stands up to it! Nice strip, Mark!
Somehow I think that even though his shadow is behind him, it’s always going to be one step ahead of him. Thanks so much, Marieke!
I think he neds to do a little shadow boxing! Teach that shadow a lesson 🙂
Too bad he’s not a vampire!
That’s one shady shadow.
Never trust anything that lurks!
I’m with the shadow. If I were always behind someone, I think it’d be hard to avoid a little mockery.
I think I’d have to agree with you, Tyler. I couldn’t resist that either!
Someone should really sock that shadow right in the nose.
Yeah, I’d like to see that!
This is pretty much what happens when someone “shadows” you in hockey. Hockey shadows are a nasty pain in the butt!
Shadows can be jerks!
A disrespectful shadow is worse than no shadow at all!
But we’re stuck with ’em!
His shadow is better than Peter Pan’s!
Thanks James. At least it has a better imagination.
I always thought my shadow was playing tricks on me…turns out I’m not the only one!
Shadows can be sneaky characters, you have to keep your eye on them!
My shadow crossed the street this morning. My daughter loved it. 🙂
I hope your shadow looked both ways before it crossed the street to set a good example for her.
You can’t trust shadows, they live n the dark side. When I worry that I’m overweight I weigh my shadow then I feel much better.
I try not to let my shadow fool me into thinking that fat shadow is mine!
I never accept the fat shadow. I curse & reject any fat shadow that tries to attach itself to me.
Send some of that Tasmanian ju-ju my way, Tony, I can’t seem to kick that fat shadow habit!
I’ve lost 15 kg & my shadow seems thinner too. No Ju-Ju just will power with food & hard work at the gym
That shadow’s got nothing on YOU, Tony! You’re the boss!
Now that’s, without a shadow of a doubt, a pretty neat strip. 🙂
It was made in the shade, George.
Oh, this one’s awesome! Too funny. :`D
The simplest strips are the ones most fun to draw. Thanks for you nice words!
Love the artwork Mark, well done!
Thanks for the compliment, I’m trying to simplify.
Where did you come up with this idea, Mark? It’s delightfully elegantly beautiful!
